After much discussion about the continuing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Association of College and University Printers (ACUP+) has decided to hold its 2021 educational conference as a virtual event. The conference was originally planned as a live event in Vancouver, Wash., but with the coronavirus showing no signs of abating, and with many member institutions and sponsors restricting employee travel and funding, the association’s board made the call to hold a virtual event from April 13-15.
The association is in the final stages of selecting a platform for the online event. Speakers and session topics are being finalized as well. As at its annual live event, the conference will feature keynotes, interactive sessions, roundtable discussions, vendor product demos, and more. It will bring together industry leaders and in-plant printing professionals from both higher-ed and K-12 to learn, collaborate, and connect.
The conference will also highlight the winners of the annual ACUP+ Awards, which are now officially open for entry.
Each of the conference’s three days will include about four hours of sessions, with time for networking at the end of the day.
This will be the second year in a row that ACUP+ was unable to hold an in-person conference due to COVID-19, its 2020 event in Lincoln, Neb., having also been transitioned to a digital event. ACUP+ got its start in 1964, and at its height during the ACUP 2002 conference at Louisiana State University drew nearly 200 college and university in-plant managers to its annual conference.
