On Sunday, higher-ed in-plant managers from all over the country will converge on Vancouver, Washington, for the 56th annual Association of College and University Printers (ACUP) conference. With more than 50 higher-ed and K-12 managers expected from all corners of the U.S., including 19 first-time attendees, ACUP promises to include a lot of great networking.
Taking place at the Hilton Vancouver, ACUP 2022 will feature excellent sessions and keynotes, plus a chance to check out the latest technologies on the vendor floor, where numerous vendors will show their wares. Session and roundtable topics will cover wide-format printing, marketing your services, digital bindery, production inkjet, copier fleets, mail services, using student workers, and much more.
For those unable to attend in person, some sessions will be available virtually, including both morning keynotes, panel discussions on wide-format, MIS, and success stories, and the ACUP+ business meeting.
Opening keynote speaker George Carroll will discuss staying positive and being adaptable to change, and he will share valuable insights and research. IPI Editor Bob Neubauer will kick off the second day of the conference with a keynote that explores how in-plants are coping with the effects of the pandemic. He’ll tap into new In-plant Impressions survey data to show which services college and university in-plants are providing, what changes COVID has brought, and the directions they are moving as they prepare for an uncertain future.
But the best part of the conference will no doubt be the networking. After two years of Zoom calls, in-plant managers will be eager to talk face-to-face with their peers and share details about their in-plants’ struggles and accomplishments. The networking will start at the opening reception on Sunday, April 3, and continue throughout the event, which will culminate with an awards dinner on April 6.

Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication. Mr. Neubauer is very active in the U.S. in-plant industry. He attends all the major in-plant conferences and has visited nearly 170 in-plant operations around the world. He has given presentations to numerous in-plant groups in the U.S., Canada and Australia, including the Association of College and University Printers and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. He also coordinates the annual In-Print contest, co-sponsored by IPMA and In-plant Impressions.
