GPO Updates Business Unit Names
The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) has launched new names for its various business units. The Agency standardized department names to distinguish units that service GPO customers such as Congress, the White House, and Federal agencies from those that service GPO as an Agency. “Updating and standardizing our business unit names will help our internal and external customers understand the roles of various business units and what products and services we offer,” said GPO Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern. “We are excited for this change which represents another step forward in GPO delivering on its vision of an America Informed.”
GPO business units that are inward-facing now start with the prefix “Agency,” whereas business units that are outward-facing now start with the prefix “Government.” A few of the new names are:

GPO is the Federal Government’s resource for publishing trusted information for the Federal Government to the American people. The GPO is responsible for producing and distributing information products and services for all three branches of the Federal Government, including U.S. passports for the Department of State and the official publications of Congress, the White House, and other Federal agencies in digital and print formats. GPO provides permanent public access to Federal Government information at no charge through Govinfo.gov and partnerships with approximately 1,100 libraries nationwide participating in the Federal Depository Library Program.
