In-plants are increasingly installing the wall graphics they print as a value-added service. But sometimes the safety of the installer is not being taken seriously enough. Even when working from what seems like a small elevation, workers must take precautions.
In the UK a man installing a sign fell from a platform only six feet off the ground and subsequently died, according to an article in Printweek. Iftikhar Ahmed Mughal was standing on the platform of a scaffolding tower that had no edge protection to install a metal sign on a shop front. He suffered serious head injuries when he hit the pavement and died from his injuries four days later.
“Work at height remains one of the leading causes of workplace injury and death,” remarked David Hobbs, Health and Safety Executive inspector. Read the full story in Printweek.
