More News from the Vatican
The election of a new pope isn't the only news coming out of the Vatican. The Holy See’s in-plant production house (known as Tipografia Vaticana) just beefed up its digital printing capabilities by adding a Meteor DP8700 XL digital press from MGI Digital Graphic Technology.
After extensive testing, the Vatican's in-plant chose the MGI Meteor DP8700 XL because of its outstanding print quality on numerous applications, especially printing open-flap envelopes and extended book covers up to 13x40˝ in length. Also important was its ability to utilize standard offset stocks. The in-plant also utilizes an assortment of sheetfed and web offset presses and finishing equipment.
Established in 1587 by Pope Sixtus V, the Vatican’s in-plant is responsible for printing everything from magazines to brochures, plus all of the Vatican’s stationery and envelopes. The shop also prints magazines and art publications for the Vatican's museums and library, along with the weekly newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano.
