It’s the end of an era for the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association (IPMA). After nine years of dedicated service to the world’s only professional association for in-house printers, Executive Director Mike Loyd has revealed his plans to retire at the end of 2026. His departure will conclude a distinguished tenure marked by visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to the in-plant community.
“Mike’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping IPMA into the thriving organization it is today,” lauds John Cruser, president of the IPMA board. “His passion for the industry and commitment to our members have left a lasting legacy. We are deeply grateful for his service and look forward to celebrating his contributions over the coming year.”
Loyd made the announcement during IPMA’s annual Winter Board Meeting held in Greenville, South Carolina, site of next year’s annual conference. Under his guidance, IPMA has grown in reach, relevance, and impact, becoming a vital resource for in-plant professionals across the country. (Listen to our podcast interview with Mike Loyd here.)
Loyd has spent much of his career in service to in-plants. Prior to joining IPMA he worked with Ricoh from 2007 until July 2016, where he helped develop business strategies and programs for college and university in-plants. Before that he served as the director of Procurement Auxiliary Services at Louisiana State University for 13 years where he oversaw Printing Services, the Copy Center, Copier Management, Design Services, Mailing Services and University Stores. For his service there he was honored by In-plant Impressions as the 1999 Manager of the Year.
Loyd is also a past president of the Association of College and University Printers (ACUP) and a past president of the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association (IPMA).
For those who want to wish him well in person, Loyd will be attending next week’s PRINTING United Expo in Orlando, Florida, and will be at IPMA’s booth #5507.
The IPMA board will begin the search for Mike’s successor in the coming months, with the goal of having the new executive director in place by November 2026 to ensure a smooth transition. For more information about IPMA, please visit www.ipma.org.
