NACUMS Conference Wraps Up in Oklahoma City
Justin Van Nest of Oklahoma City Community College gave a session titled “Why Print and Mail Still Matters in a Digital World.”
This week in Oklahoma City, nearly 70 university in-house mail managers attended the National Association of College and University Mail Services (NACUMS) conference. This year’s theme, “Forging New Trails in Mail, Logistics, and Print,” set the stage for an engaging five-day experience. bringing together higher-ed mailing industry professionals from across the nation. They attended users group meetings, roundtable discussions, educational sessions, spent time in the vendor hall with the 21 exhibitors, and did plenty of networking.
Educational sessions covered an array of postal and management topics such as What Letter Mail is Really Costing Your University; A Practical Framework for Modern Mail and Receiving; Beyond KPIs into Predictive Analytics and AI-Driven Logistics; Elevating the Customer Experience; Positive Thinking; Upcoming Technology Changes in the USPS; Discovering the Path to Exceptional Performance; and Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events. Mark Fallon, president and CEO of The Berkshire Co., led two interesting sessions: The Power of Networking and Job Security in Uncertain Times.
Attendees also perused the print and postal solutions on display in the vendor area, attended roundtable discussions, and enjoyed a tour of the University of Oklahoma’s large print and mail operation. Andy Carr from SUNY- Oneonta received the “Outstanding Team Member” award.

Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication. Mr. Neubauer is very active in the U.S. in-plant industry. He attends all the major in-plant conferences and has visited 200 in-plant operations around the world. He has given presentations to numerous in-plant groups in the U.S., Canada and Australia, including the Association of College and University Printers and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. He also coordinates the annual In-Print contest, co-sponsored by IPMA and In-plant Impressions.
