During first quarter of this year ad pages saw their smallest year-to-year decline since second quarter 2011, falling by 4.9 percent, according to Publishers Information Bureau data released today.
Including Sunday magazines, ad pages fell to 32,022.92 from 33,672.96 during the same January to March reporting period as last year.
Reported ad revenue was actually up year to year for the first time in almost two years, going from $4,490,134,089 to $4,497,517,883, an increase of 0.2 percent. Those figures are based on rate-card rates before discounting.
There were some promising signs buried in the numbers.
