New Survey: Merge Conferences Or Remain Separate?
A recent online survey of college and university in-plant managers conducted on a listserv revealed a nearly even split between managers who favor merging some of the many in-plant conferences and those who prefer the status quo.
Out of 129 participants, 43.4% said they would like these conferences to "remain smaller and separate" while 42.6% wanted them to "consolidate and merge." Some 14% of participants selected "other" and comments indicated they would like to see some level of consolidation. Suggestions included having East and West Coast events, holding one large conference and one less elaborate regional event each year and having regional conferences merge with ACUP from time to time. Several advised merging the higher-ed events but remaining separate from IPMA.
