University Survey Results
When IPG surveys college and university in-plants, we always get a strong response. Our recent survey pulled in 194 replies. Among the interesting information we uncovered:

More university in-plants have black-and-white copiers than have one-color offset presses, and slightly more managers oversee copying than offset printing.

|
University in-plants produce 71.9 percent of their schools' printing.
|
•
|
The average number of full time in-plant employees is 16.
|
•
|
In the past two years, 59.7 percent of university in-plants have expanded their in-plants.
|
•
|
46.5 percent have the right of first refusal for all university printing.
|
•
|
More than 42 percent operate satellite print/copy shops.
|
•
|
More than 52 percent have their own Web sites, with 57.14 percent using them to take job orders.
|
•
|
58 percent of respondents insource printing from other organizations.
|
•
|
41.67 percent of in-plants handle variable data printing. Of those, 37 percent (or 15.5 percent of all respondents) are adding color to their variable data printing.
