The Worst Data Problem in the Industry: Manual Collection
Measuring your in-plant’s performance and analyzing how you can improve productivity are vital to your survival. But for those in-plants trying to do this manually, there are a host of problems that are hindering their efforts.
In a new blog post by Consultant Howie Fenton, he details the four main problems with manually collecting data for metrics and stresses how automating the collection process will yield more reliable data that you can act on to strengthen your operation.
Collecting data manually, Fenton writes, relies on staff to collect the data. This leads to lower productivity, resentment and unreliable data. In the end, the manager will have a tougher time interpreting the data and putting it to use.
