Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication. Mr. Neubauer is very active in the U.S. in-plant industry. He attends all the major in-plant conferences and has visited more than 170 in-plant operations around the world. He has given presentations to numerous in-plant groups in the U.S., Canada and Australia, including the Association of College and University Printers and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. He also coordinates the annual In-Print contest, co-sponsored by IPMA and In-plant Impressions.

More than 480 entries were submitted to In-Print 2013, the only national printing contest exclusively for in-plants. After a full day of judging, 80 winning pieces were selected, from 34 different in-plants.

One large digital press in an in-plant is impressive. Two of them in the same shop is remarkable. But three is extraordinary. So when Medifast, a clinically proven, portion-controlled weight-loss program, installed a third Xerox iGen4 in its Ridgely, Md.-based in-plant in January, the in-plant entered the realm of the exceptional.

RENZ America has opened a new West Coast facility in Commerce, Calif., approximately 10 miles southeast of Los Angeles. It will offer full technical service and a sales team, and will manufacture cut ring wire and form coil wire for large quantity needs. The facility will also stock a full compliment of RENZ punching and binding equipment.

The company has appointed Charles Gutierrez to manage the facility.

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification is not just for West Coast in-plants. Penn State University’s Multimedia & Print Center (MPC) earned its FSC certification on May 13 and has been loading its presses and printers with environmentally responsible paper ever since. The new certification is a part of a green initiative that’s happening across many Penn State campuses. “It’s a part of being responsible for environmental purposes,” says MPC Project Coordinator Stacy Ostrofsky. “By making changes like this, we can help.
