The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) component of PRINTING United Expo addresses critical industry concerns through resources and expert guidance. Gary Jones, vice president of Environmental, Health, and Safety Affairs at PRINTING United Alliance, leads this initiative to help printers navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape while fostering operational safety and environmental responsibility.
The Alliance is showcasing its newly revamped Safety and OSHA Compliance Resource Center, featuring interactive demonstrations of digital compliance tools, updated safety information, and training modules through the iLearning+ platform. On-site resources include written program templates covering lockout/tagout procedures, hazard communication, PPE requirements, respirators, and emergency preparedness programs.
Attendees can access expert consultation with EHS Affairs Department staff for personalized assessments of their current safety programs, and build customized compliance roadmaps that address specific operational challenges and regulatory requirements.
The Expo programming also focuses on the intersection of sustainability, compliance, and operational resilience. Key areas include Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation and its impact on packaging and print operations, state-level bans on carbon black in inks, and potential restrictions on chlorinated pigments, particularly in Washington state.
At the Alliance booth, visitors receive one-on-one guidance from subject matter experts who help printers stay ahead of regulatory changes while advancing sustainability goals. The forward-looking approach enables printing companies to develop strategies for regulatory preparedness in a rapidly evolving legislative landscape, supporting both compliance and business continuity.
