ACUP Webinar A Huge Success
Though their conference was cancelled, more than 100 university in-plant managers from all across North America got together anyway on Wednesday for a webinar. Hosted by IPG, in partnership with the Association of College and University Printers (ACUP), the 90-minute webinar was a big success. It took place on what would have been the last day of the ACUP conference, cancelled this year due to economy-related travel bans.
Managers from as far away as Scotland, Newfoundland and Alaska listened in, asking dozens of questions, which the presenters did their best to answer live.
One of the most popular segments was a talk by Lisa Hoover, director of Bucknell University Administrative Services, who described how her in-plant was given responsibility for design and print production of all university publications. Questions poured in about her in-plant, its services and the tools they use.
The roundtable discussion was very lively, and at times felt as though participants were sitting around a table chatting. Joining in were past ACUP hosts Rick Wise (University of Missouri), Tom Tozier (University of Colorado) and Jennifer Bowers (Florida State University), along with current ACUP President Richard Griffin (Central Piedmont Community College).
Griffin's idea of offering free resume printing for students was a hit with listeners, and Wise's talk about his shop's move into providing e-products was also a popular topic. Others on the panel chimed in throughout with ideas of their own, resulting in some very useful information being disseminated. Watch for a full report in the next issue of IPG.
