The cost of a First Class stamp will jump three cents on Sunday when the U.S. Postal Service implements its latest round of rate increases. USPS is hoping to generate $2 billion in incremental annual revenue to alleviate the “precarious financial condition” of the Postal Service, according to Board of Governors Chairman Mickey Barnett.
First Class letters weighing up to 1 oz. will now cost $0.49, with each additional ounce climbing one cent to $0.21. Letters to international destinations will cost $1.15, postcards will climb one cent to 34 cents and First Class flats will rise six cents to $0.98, with additional ounces an extra $0.21.
