Highmark Upgrading In-plant
Highmark Inc., one of the largest health insurance companies in the country, is in the process of upgrading its Corporate Printing Services department with several new pieces of digital color printing and binding equipment. By early May, the Pittsburgh-based in-plant expects to have in place two Xerox iGen 150s (for a total of five iGens); a Xerox Color J75 press; a Xerox Color 1000 press; three C.P. Bourg BDFx booklet makers; and a C.P. Bourg Power Square near-line booklet making system.
The in-plant prints more than 100 million impressions a year, says Jeffrey S. Taranto, manager of Corporate Printing Services, and volumes are increasing. Staff, however, is not.
"We outsource nothing, based upon our capabilities that we have through Xerox," Taranto says.
