University of Washington Creative Communications recently opened its doors to the in-plant community and hosted an IPMA Road Show in its Seattle operation. Twenty two in-plant attendees and 14 vendors gathered at the in-plant for a day of education and networking, along with a tour of the printing and mailing operation.
Director Frank Davis welcomed attendees and told them about the in-plant’s financial recovery, its Lean journey and its evolving business. The in-plant recently received an $88,000 grant from the Campus Sustainability Fund for five electric assist bicycles with cargo boxes and trailers for making deliveries.
The event included roundtable discussions covered wide-format printing, mailing and managed print. Ricoh, Canon and Kodak reps talked about industry trends and technologies. Then attendees got a tour of the entire operation.
“The day was lively and fast paced,” says Davis. “The three roundtables were full of spirited conversations on challenges, triumphs and cost savings.”
IPMA will continue its Road Shows in the months ahead. Here’s the schedule:
- Yale University, New Haven, Conn. Oct. 17
- State of Tennessee, Nashville, Tenn. Nov. 17
- University of Oklahoma, Norman, Okla. Feb. 25-26
- University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Va. March 8
Road Shows are open to both IPMA members and non-members. Contact Amy Banker at (816) 919-1691 ext. 102 or abanker@ipma.org for more information.
