First-timers Win Big in In-Print 2012
On Monday, the judging of the In-Print 2012 contest took place at IPMA headquarters in Kearney, Mo., just outside of Kansas City. Five judges from five different in-plants assembled at 8:30 a.m. and worked clear through until 6:00 p.m. to select 78 winners, plus two Best of Show winners.
The willingness of these judges to stay indoors and look through loupes on a gorgeous, 80-degree spring day, deserves to be acknowledged. Our judges were:
- Lori Fuller, of the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
- Matt Doughty, of the University of Kansas Medical Center.
- Mark McCarty, of Missouri State University.
- Larry Clements, of Redlands Community College.
- Chris Anderson, of Deseret Mutual Benefit Administrators.
Most notable in this year's contest were the number of new names on the winners' list. At least 20 of the winners have never won an In-Print award. Organizations like Nestle Purina Petcare, Albuquerque Public Schools, Kohler Co., Yale University, and many other first-time winners will be recognized during the In-Print awards ceremony on June 27, in Kansas City, during the IPMA conference.
Overall, 37 different in-plants won awards (compared to 29 last year). The two in-plants that won the most were the University of North Texas (10) and the University of Oklahoma (9). The University of Texas at Austin took home four awards, while the University of Delaware, Briggs & Stratton, the LDS Church, Washington State University and Yale University all won three.
IPG and IPMA will announce all the winners online soon. As for the Best of Show winners, they will be revealed at the June 27 awards ceremony, via a pair of videos that will show the judges picking the winners.
