New Year's Wishes for In-plants
In his latest blog entry, Consultant Ray Chambers talks about his efforts to help top management understand why their in-plant really is a core part of their business. While talking with managers, he says he can't help but wish that more in-plants would help him defend them by proactively showing their relevance and becoming more visible within their organizations.
"I wish that in-plant managers would go to the trouble to understand―really understand―the business they’re in," Chambers writes. "And I’ll give you a hint: It’s not the printing business."
He suggests a few answers in-plant managers should give to the question "Why does your in-plant exist?" (The wrong answer, he says, is, "To print stuff.")
