Judges Pick 80 In-Print Winners
On Monday, five judges met at IPMA headquarters in Kearney, Mo., to pick the winners of the In-Print 2013 contest, the only national printing contest exclusively for in-plants. Out of the more than 480 printed pieces entered in the contest, judges selected 80 winners from 34 different in-plants.
Some of the top winners this year were:
- The University of North Texas, with nine awards (including four Gold);
- The University of Oklahoma, with seven awards (five Gold);
- Washington State University, with six awards (three Gold);
- The University of Oregon, with five awards.
Excellus Blue Cross & Blue Shield and Rochester Institute of Technology both took home four awards, while the University of Minnesota, Central Michigan University and the University of Delaware all won three.
Once all categories had been judged, the Gold award winners were assembled and the judges selected one Best of Show winner from the offset pieces and one from the non-offset pieces. IPG Editor Bob Neubauer shot a video of the process, which will be shown during the IPMA awards banquet (June 5) to reveal the two Best of Show winners.
Some of the new award winners this year were the Church of Scientology International, the City of Denton (TX), Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Securian Financial Group, State of Colorado DCS, ThedaCare, University of St. Thomas and Wells Fargo Financial Corp.
For the first time in the In-Print contest's history, entries in the non-offset categories surpassed those in the offset group. More than 60 percent of entries were printed on non-offset devices.
