New Konica Minolta Press Brings In-line Finishing, Long-Sheet Capabilities to In-plants
Our take:
For space-constrained in-plants facing pressure to produce more work with fewer skilled operators, the new Konica Minolta AccurioPress C5080 Series, launched this week, appears well aligned with their chief operational challenges. The new series — which includes the 81-ppm AccurioPress C5080, 71-ppm AccurioPress C5070, and entry-level 65-ppm AccurioPrint C5065 — brings production-level color capabilities into a more compact footprint, a key benefit for in-plants in already crowded facilities.
Just as important, the series can be configured with an array of in-line finishing options, reducing touchpoints at a time when skilled labor remains difficult to find. Long-sheet handling, now incorporated into the paper trays, also supports the growing demand for banners, oversized covers, and other higher-value applications. New media sensors automatically set optimum values for different paper types and alert operators if the wrong stock has been loaded, while the IQ-601 Intelligent Quality Optimizer adds color control and consistency. Together, those features could help in-plants expand their application range, maintain quality, reduce waste and setup time, and keep more work moving through the shop.
The news:
The entry-level A4 color AccurioPress C5080/C5070 (81 ppm and 71 ppm) and AccurioPrint C5065 (65 ppm) systems are designed to make professional digital printing accessible for businesses of every size. Addressing industry challenges such as rising costs, skilled labor shortages, and increasing expectations around quality, sustainability, shorter runs and tight deadlines, these next-level machines offer a simple setup, consistent output and highly efficient operation.
Intelligent media sensors – including the IM-104 and IM-105 - enhance print quality and efficiency, and assist users in selecting the correct paper type, for seamless operation. Additional software solutions further elevate production including Konica Minolta’s new IQ-601 intelligent quality optimizer which delivers exceptional color control and consistency, full color profiling, sheet file detection and proofless inspection.
Konica Minolta’s proven quality ensures confidence from day one. Enhanced engine modifications maintain superior output and align performance with the latest industry standards. Intuitive job submission, easy file handling, automated presets, and streamlined maintenance all contribute to a better user experience. Integrated color management, on-press calibration and end-to-end workflow reduce setup, offer a unique value proposition.
In addition to booklet making, a comprehensive range of finishing technologies further supports efficient, high-quality production. These include Konica Minolta’s TU-510e, which was the world’s first inline trimming unit. This four-edge trimmer, creaser and perforator allows full bleed finishing support for banners, booklets, direct mail and dedicated business card cutting options. The enhanced capabilities of the TU-510e make it an ideal companion for the AccurioPress C5080 Series.
The new presses are offered with the option of three alternative controllers. They are the AccurioImage IC-613, the IC-421 Internal Fiery Controller or the IC-321 Fiery Image Controller.
“The Konica Minolta AccurioPress C5080 Series comprises a powerful combination of high-resolution, color-accurate printing and finishing with fast turnaround, minimal waste, and reliable uptime,” said Ines Wennemann, Senior Product Manager Professional Printing at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “These next-level entry systems can support operations taking their first steps into digital print with a raft of technologies that ensure simple set up, consistency and maximised productivity. Combining Konica Minolta’s proven reliability with essential features, all machines will help customers unlock new print opportunities by expanding their business capabilities and building a solid foundation for future growth, confidence and value.”
The company intends to make the AccurioPress C5080 Series available in North America by mid-June.
