Two Public Printers to Speak at Digital Printing in Government Forum
In-plant managers at government agencies and higher-ed institutions now have another reason to attend the INTERQUEST Digital Printing in Government and Higher Education Forum in Washington, D.C. 12 days from today. Both the current and previous U.S. Public Printers will be speakers at the event.
William J. Boarman, current Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Government Printing Office, will present the keynote address, providing an update on GPO's transformation into a 21st century information organization. And later in the day, his predecessor, Robert C. Tapella, will give a presentation discussing digital printing opportunities in government, along with key challenges faced by government printers.
"We are extremely proud and honored to have Mr. Boarman kick off our event," notes Gilles Biscos, president of INTERQUEST, a market and technology research and consulting firm in digital printing and publishing. "This is the first year of his term, and we know attendees will welcome the opportunity to hear from him at our forum. The GPO faces the same trends and opportunities faced by professionals in all public sectors so this is a rare opportunity to gain an insider perspective from the Public Printer."
The event, now in its sixth year, will also feature a number of in-plant managers, speaking about how they are leveraging new digital printing technology to improve productivity, reduce costs and enhance documents.
On the docket are:
- Leslie Rutledge, director of Graphic Services at Brown University, and the subject of the November cover story in IPG.
- Shawn P. Magill, director of Strategy & Development at the Defense Logistics Agency's Document Services Headquarters.
- Jane Bloodworth, former manager of the World Bank’s Printing, Graphics and Map Design Unit.
Several other speakers are pending.
INTERQUEST is a market and technology research and consulting firm that focuses on digital printing and publishing. At the forum, Biscos and Toby Cobrin, a director there, will each discuss results from INTERQUEST research, analyzing key trends in the publishing, print-on-demand, transactional and graphic arts markets. Biscos will explore recent technological and market developments, discuss the impact of the latest vendor announcements, and examine future changes.
In addition to all of this, leading printing systems vendors like Kodak, HP and Xerox will present their companies' strategies and solutions for the government and the higher-education markets.
The one-day forum, which is free for government and higher-ed professionals, will take place on Wednesday, November 30, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, in Washington, D.C. Register here.
