Collaborating with U.K. In-plants
IPG blogger and in-plant consultant Ray Chambers recently returned from the U.K. where he attended and presented at the University Print Managers’ Group (UPMG) conference. Held this year at Redworth Hall, in County Durham, the event drew dozens of in-plant managers from all over the U.K.
In his new blog entry on the IPG site, Chambers describes some of the sessions at the event and the ideas that he took away from it. He also discusses the benefits that have come about through the collaboration of the Association of College and University Printers (ACUP) with UPMG. For example, at ACUP 2008, Duncan Hurst, director of Media Services at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, presented the results of a study of in-plant operations in the U.K. that covered best practices, technology assessments and assessments of procurement options.
