UPPER MERION, PA—The widow of a train engineer who was killed last May by a roll of paper that was not secured in its rail car is suing a number of firms, including the former owners of the Philadelphia Inquirer and The Daily News.
The suit was filed by Sarah Troester, whose husband—Jeff Troester, 43, an assistant engineer with Arcellor-Mittal Railways—died when he opened a rail car and a 1,500-pound roll of paper fell on him. The railcar was delivering rolls to a facility here owned by Philadelphia Newspapers and Philadelphia Media Network. The plaintiff seeks unspecified damages.
