The Jacksonville Transportation Authority's in-plant has installed the very first Glunz & Jensen PlateWriter 3600 computer-to-plate solution in the U.S. The system produces press‐ready metal plates without the use of chemical processing. The PlateWriter 3600 will help reduce cost, eliminate processes and enable faster turnaround times.
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is an independent agency of the State of Florida governed by a seven-member board of directors. JTA operates Jacksonville’s public bus service, downtown automated Skyway and paratransit service. The Authority also plans, designs and builds roads and bridges. JTA’s mission is to improve Northeast Florida’s economy, environment and quality of life by providing safe, reliable and efficient multimodal transportation services and facilities.
The new CTP system reportedly has the lowest energy management in its class, eliminating water usage as well as chemicals and disposal costs. This will result in substantial long-term cost savings and be ecologically responsible for future generations.
The PlateWriter produces digital CTP metal plates, which deliver accurate registration and high approach so multiple plate sizes and gauges can be used in parallel, with no changes. The PlateWriter 3600 was purchased from RMM Associates, a national dealer for Glunz & Jensen CTP solutions and consumables.
“G&J has been the leader in inkjet computer-to-plate solutions over the last seven years," says Henry “Hank” Clifford, RMM president. "This fourth generation product takes the best of these technologies and extends its solution to commercial printers, small and medium newspapers with two-up, four-up and eight-up press formats up to 36x45˝.”
