In a ceremony yesterday during PRINTING United Expo, John Sarantakos, director of University of Oklahoma Print and Mail Services, one of the country’s largest university in-plants, was inducted along with 14 others into the prestigious Ben Franklin Honor Society (BFHS).
With more than 50 years of experience in the printing field as a manager, educator, and craftsperson, Sarantakos has been with the university for 26 years and prior to that served as director of production at Indiana University.
The historical BFHS recognizes and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement and betterment of the printing and graphic communications industry through meritorious service. Sarantakos is the first in-plant manager to have achieved this honor.
Under his leadership, OU’s in-plant has earned more than 260 awards for printing quality and innovative ideas. Last year he received the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association’s 2022 Outstanding Contributor Award.
