Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication. Mr. Neubauer is very active in the U.S. in-plant industry. He attends all the major in-plant conferences and has visited more than 170 in-plant operations around the world. He has given presentations to numerous in-plant groups in the U.S., Canada and Australia, including the Association of College and University Printers and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. He also coordinates the annual In-Print contest, co-sponsored by IPMA and In-plant Impressions.

Service is in Greg Cooper's blood. The self-described "Navy brat" lived up and down the East Coast as a child, as his father moved from ship to ship during his career in the Navy. He followed in his father's footsteps, entering the armed forces by joining the U.S. Air Force in 1989.

IT STARTED in the parking lot. As he stepped out of his car one day, Greg Cooper, print shop manager for the city of Baltimore's Digital Document Division, happened to run into the city's IT director. They started talking about the checks and bills that IT was printing for the city on its Xerox 92C printers. Cooper told him, flat out, that his in-plant was better positioned to handle this work than IT, whose main focus was supposed to be computers and data.

Twenty-five years ago, Apple Inc. introduced the original Macintosh computer, Terms of Endearment took home the Oscar for Best Picture and the Colts departed Baltimore in the dead of night. It also was 25 years ago that Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses’ present identity was forged. Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses (MLP U.S.A., Inc.), the North American sales unit for printing presses manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., is celebrating a quarter of a century of innovations in 2009.

Yesterday’s mail piece automation and verification demonstration in Baltimore marked the first of six such events being presented by Buhrs and Lake Image Systems. The two companies are holding a six-city, cross country tour to demonstrate how mail piece processing, verification and job tracking solutions will reduce labor costs, improve productivity and reduce liability exposure. The next show in the series will take place this coming Thursday in Atlanta (3/13), and then continue in Dallas (3/27), Los Angeles (4/3), Chicago (4/10) and New York/New Jersey (4/17). PITTSBURGH—January 29, 2008--PIA/GATF will explain how graphic communications companies can take advantage of two of the industry’s hottest trends, lean manufacturing and green printing, when its National Seminar Tour resumes this spring. The one-day Lean and Green seminar, being held at eight locations across the country will help companies trim manufacturing waste and time. It will also focus on sustainable manufacturing practices that can have the dual benefit of meeting customer demands and reducing costs. Ken Rizzo, PIA/GATF’s director of consulting and head of its Center for Lean Practices, and Gary Jones, PIA/GATF’s director of environmental, health, and safety, will co-present the program.
